Do ScholarTool CAD helpers open, upload, convert, or repair CAD files?
No. The CAD helpers and mechanical-design calculators work from typed dimensions, checklist choices, and template text in the browser. They do not upload CAD files, parse STL geometry, open proprietary CAD formats, or repair models automatically.
Can I use these CAD tools for final drawing release?
Use them as structured review aids only. Final drawings, tolerance decisions, manufacturing releases, and compliance decisions must be checked against applicable standards, validated CAD/CAM workflows, supplier requirements, and qualified engineering judgment.
Are CAD inputs stored or sent to a server?
No. CAD checklist inputs, mechanical-design values, dimensions, tolerance values, and template text are processed locally in the active browser page state. ScholarTool does not add CAD analytics, file storage, accounts, or third-party CAD APIs.
Is ScholarTool affiliated with any CAD vendor?
No. CAD, STL, STEP, DXF, DWG, and software-related terms are used only as generic engineering workflow references. ScholarTool does not claim endorsement by any CAD software vendor.
Do the CAD mechanical-design calculators replace supplier tables or standards?
No. Gear, belt, chain, pulley, shaft-key, GD&T, hole, and thread outputs are preliminary planning support only. Verify final dimensions, tolerances, materials, supplier requirements, standards, inspection methods, and professional engineering judgement before release.
